The city of Haifa

Visit to Jerusalem, the City of Faith

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. And we at ICML 2010 wouldn’t dream of making you all dull. After 5 days of intense mental exercise, we plan to give you an opportunity to exercise your muscles on a 1-day trip to Jerusalem – capital of Israel and located west of the Dead Sea – on Saturday, June 26, 2010. The trip costs USD 25 and includes travel and lunch.

The bus will leave Haifa at 8:00 AM, with participating delegates led by an English speaking guide. You will get to visit The Mount of Olives, the Old City, Jaffa Gate, Jewish Quarter, Western Wall, and Via Dolorosa.

Jerusalem has the unique distinction of being pilgrimage site for Christians, Jews, and Muslims. The Old City, which is heart of Jerusalem, is divided into four quarters – Christian, Armenian, Jew, and Muslim. A walk through the quarters will transport you back into the times when Jesus and Prophet walked the Earth.

The Western Wall, remnant of the Second Temple of Judaism, is the holiest of Jewish sites world over. Another remnant, Via Dolorosa, is supposed to be the path on which Christ walked on his way to crucifixion. It is a holy Christian site.

The Mount of Olives is considered to be the cradle of many biblical events. You can walk up to the summit to get a panoramic view of Jerusalem, Judean Desert, and the Dead Sea.

The tour will end at Jerusalem around 4:00 PM. You may choose to return back to your hotel at Haifa or move on to the Ben Gurion airport to catch your flight. Keeping in mind the international flight schedules, trip organizers will arrange for airport drop facility any time after 2:00 PM. Just remember to intimate them of your travel schedules in advance, preferably while booking the trip.
